You catch 7142 more often than chance allows: a timestamp and a page number. You get wisdom out of the 7 and initiation out of the 1, often in the same afternoon. Five is freedom, so look at what you have been holding still that wants to move.
What 7142 means
The 5 is change: movement, freedom, the lesson that arrives through experience, not through planning. When a number reduces to 5, a routine has likely done what it came to do, and something in you already knows it's time for a different shape.
Inside 7142, the 7 carries the answer that arrives once the noise drops. The 1 adds the spark of a beginning before it has a structure. The 4 brings the unglamorous work that decides whether something lasts.
The working, shown
7 + 1 + 4 + 2 = 14, and 1 + 4 = 5.
Every number in this system is read the same honest way: add the digits, reduce, and check whether a master number (11, 22 or 33) is trying to hold its full shape along the way.
Why you keep seeing it
Numbers repeat when a theme refuses to stay quiet. A change is already moving under the surface, and the sightings arrive when you grip the old shape harder. The final digit is the 2, where the message lands: timing you cannot hurry.
What to do when you see it
Your assignment when 7142 shows up
Take one honest step toward the change you keep describing as impossible. Ask yourself what the 2 wants known right now. Where are you forcing something that needs time? Do the smallest honest version of it before Sunday.

Is 7142 a good sign?
Neither good nor bad. A sighting describes the terrain you are standing on. The same number can greet a beginning or stand near an ending, and the difference is always what you decide to do with it.
Does seeing 7142 mean my wish will come true?
Not quite. The sighting is not a yes machine. It is a mirror, and what it reflects is what you were wanting when you caught it. That wants an action, and it won't wait.
Is 7142 connected to my Life Path number?
A sighting is a moment and your chart is a standing structure. The number following you says something about your season, and your Life Path and the rest of your numbers, hand calculated from your birth name and birth date, describe what you are working with underneath every season.
