What a birth date actually tells you
Your date of birth gives your Life Path, your Birthday Number and your Attitude, plus your timing: Personal Years and the rhythm they set. Two dates side by side can already say something real: whether two roads run parallel, cross, or climb the same mountain by different faces.
What the dates cannot give you is the rest of the chart. Your Expression, Soul Urge and Personality come from your full name, and they decide how your Life Path actually behaves in a relationship. This is why single-number matching, the kind that scores two Life Paths and prints a percentage, keeps failing people in practice.
The honest method, step by step
1. Both Life Paths, both methods. Each person's Life Path calculated correctly: reducing day, month and year separately, and summing every digit, keeping 11, 22 and 33 unreduced. The pair describes the terrains the two people walk and where those terrains meet.
2. The rest of both charts. Expression, Soul Urge, Personality for each, from the full names. This is where the same pair reads completely differently: a Life Path 7 with a 3 Expression is a different partner than a 7 with an 8, and no percentage score survives that distinction.
3. Support and stretch. Where one chart feeds what the other lacks, and where the two ask incompatible things of the same room. Compatibility is not the absence of stretch. Every real pair has some. The question is whether the stretch grows both people or grinds them down.
4. Timing. Personal Years, read together. Two people in different phases of their nine-year cycles want different amounts of push and rest, and many rough years are just timing, not character.
What date of birth compatibility is good for
It is a legitimate doorway: two Life Paths honestly described tell you the shape of the meeting. The pairing guides on this site do exactly that, one per number, and the popular pairs have their own pages: 7 and 9, 1 and 5, 4 and 8, among others.
But if a decision rides on it, moving in, marrying, going into business together, you want the whole picture. Both charts, hand-calculated, verified by two independent methods, and read against each other: where your numbers support, where they stretch, and the shared rhythm underneath the relationship.
That is the Couples Reading. Both complete profiles, personally written, then read together. Partners, business partners, a parent and a child, two friends: the numbers do not care about the label, only the connection.
Start with the doorway
Begin where it is free: calculate both Life Paths, read the pair honestly, and see what it names. If it names something true, you will want the rest of the map soon after.
