The sightings of 1196 pile up: a till display and a door number. What you are dealing with is initiation from the 1 and completion from the 9, and they arrive together. Eight is power, so look at where you have been waiting for permission you already have.
What 1196 means
The 8 governs authority, ambition and the honest use of strength, especially around work and money. When a number reduces to 8, you likely have more leverage in a situation than you're currently using.
Inside 1196, the 1 carries the spark of a beginning before it has a structure. The 9 adds the closing of a chapter so a cleaner one can open. The 6 brings home, and the people who depend on you.
The working, shown
1 + 1 + 9 + 6 = 17, and 1 + 7 = 8.
Every number in this system is read the same honest way: add the digits, reduce, and check whether a master number (11, 22 or 33) is trying to hold its full shape along the way.
Why you keep seeing it
The timing of the sightings is the real clue. Something in the material layer, money and work and cause and effect, is out of balance, and the sightings arrive near the evidence. Read it from the front and the 1 leads, so the rest borrows its tone: a beginning that has not been given a name yet.
What to do when you see it
Your assignment when 1196 shows up
Close one loop in the material layer, whether that is the invoice, the ask, or the boundary you keep not setting. And answer the question the 1 keeps asking. What beginning is available to you right now that you haven't admitted to yourself? Put it in the calendar with a day and a time.

Is 1196 a good sign?
Neither good nor bad. A sighting describes the terrain you are standing on. The same number can greet a beginning or stand near an ending, and the difference is always what you decide to do with it.
Does seeing 1196 mean my wish will come true?
No, and reading it that way tends to make people passive. The honest use of a repeating number is noticing what you were thinking about when it appeared, then making an actual decision yourself.
Is 1196 connected to my Life Path number?
Only in the loosest sense. Angel number sightings speak to attention, timing and theme. Your core numbers are a different layer entirely, the architecture, and reading them together is where the picture gets useful.
